The Ontario PC government is once again delivering real results for workers, communities, and job creators across the province.
Ontario and Canada have signed a historic cooperation agreement that eliminates federal duplication and accelerates approvals for major infrastructure and resource projects through a new “One Project, One Process, One Decision” model. This common-sense approach will cut years of delays, attract investment, and get shovels in the ground faster — especially in the Ring of Fire.
For too long, overlapping federal and provincial assessments slowed down nation-building projects, discouraged investment, and held back Ontario’s economic potential. Under this new model, projects will move through Ontario’s world-class environmental assessment process only, providing certainty for communities and proponents while maintaining strong environmental protections.
By cutting unnecessary red tape, this agreement will:
- Speed up approvals for critical infrastructure and mining projects
- Unlock Ontario’s vast critical mineral resources
- Create good-paying jobs for Ontario workers
- Strengthen Canada’s economic independence and competitiveness
This agreement also delivers progress for Northern Ontario and Indigenous communities. Ontario has already reached historic agreements with Marten Falls First Nation and Webequie First Nation to support community infrastructure and advance all-season road access to the Ring of Fire — a key step toward responsible resource development and long-term prosperity.
With global demand growing for critical minerals used in electric vehicles, batteries, defence technologies, and advanced manufacturing, Ontario is well-positioned to lead.
